I read "Seasons and Celebrations". This book is about seasons and celebrations around the world. I will introduce some of the topics I was interested in.
2.The New Year
The day before the New Year's Day, there are several festivals around the world. For example, in New York, many people go to Times Square, and in London, people go to Trafalgar Square and count down watching the clock. On the New Year's Day, many people around the world sing "Auld Lang Syne". In Scotland, the luck of the year is depends on the first person who comes to the house. The person is called "First foot".
3.Valentine's Day
On the Valentine's Day, people enjoy giving cards, chocolate or flowers to the person they love. Also, some people go to have dinner at restaurants.
4.Easter
Easter is the most important festival for the church. It started on the day the Roman emperor killed Jesus 2000 years ago. The day is called "Good Friday". Two days after the Good Friday, it is said that Jesus revived, and the day is called "Easter Sunday." Today, people enjoy Easter making egg-rolling or eating hot cross buns.
Through reading this book, you can get a lot of knowledge about festivals or celebrations around the world. As for me, many things which I didn't know were written in this book, so it was really interesting.
